Hangar Bays 3 & 4 – A MOC Made From 60304 Road Plates

Tuesday, 15th December 2020 By Caz

My latest review for New Elementary has just been published. It anaylses long-anticipated new Road Plate system found in set 60304. I also received some of the other new City line to review, but that article is yet to come. I won’t repeat my thoughts on the set here, but you can read it for yourself.

The major new components are an 8x16x2/3rds printed piece to make crosswalks; a 16x16x2/3 plate which forms most of the road surface; numerous 2×4 tiles with a white stripe to fill in the crosswalk and attach them to their neighbours, and a completely smooth 5x8x2/3 ramp to attach to the edges of the road system to give vehicles a smooth transition onto the floor or table top. There is also an unprinted variant of the 8×16 element.

Having examined the parts carefully, I was intrigued by the underside of the plates, which looked even more interesting than the topside! It reminded me a lot of industrial panelling, which gave me an idea. I was able to combine the new road plates from all five of the sets I was sent, giving me a total of 11 large plates, 3 half plates with printing, 2 half plates without printing and more than 18 end ramps. They quickly turned into Hangar Bays 3 & 4, the MOC you see here.

Captain Mutant’s LEGO Ideas Project at Discovery Brick Show 2019

Monday, 20th May 2019 By Caz

At Discovery Brick Show 2019 recently, I had the pleasure of talking with Captain Mutant about his own MOC. He is hoping that it will become an actual LEGO set via the Ideas website. If you like what you see, please support his project here: Classic Space Outpost on LEGO Ideas.

LEGO Custom Re-MOC of Classic Space Set 924 Space Transporter

Sunday, 13th January 2019 By Caz

When the new Emmet and Benny’s ‘Build and Fix Workshop (set 70821) came out a couple of weeks ago, I immediately bought a copy, along with Benny’s Space Squad because, spaceship! Spacship! SPACESHIP! In a previous video, I showed you my reMOC of 918 One Man Spaceship, the smallest ship from the old Classic Space theme. Since then, I have been thinking about doing the same for 924, Space Transporter.

Custom Re-MOC of Classic Space Set 918, One Man Space Ship

Monday, 12th November 2018 By Caz

I absolutely loved the Classic Space sets when they came out in the late 70’s. I had several of the ships, including this one – LL918, which I played with incessantly. But in my late teens, I sold off all my LEGO and went into my Dark ages. I decided to have a go at what an almost 30-year Anniversary refit might look like – and this is what I came up with.
