Sand Dollar Department Store – Micropolis #217

Monday, 31st May 2021 By Caz

The shopaholic members of the Micropolis community are delighted to learn that an exciting new venue has just opened in the city.

The Sand Dollar Department Store is an upmarket retail space spread over three generous stories, and with an opening promotion already in full swing, you are bound to find yourself a bargain.

The main structure sits square-on to the base but the top two floors are slightly skew. giving a bit of extra visual interest. They are made with 4 staircases mounted on their sides, clad with white or transparent cheese slopes. SNOT bricks attach these staircases to the main studs-up contruction that they sit on.

Each window display shows off different aspects of the store, so why not pop in for a look around?

Hartshaped House – Micropolis #214

Friday, 21st May 2021 By Caz

A while ago I got a couple of copies the DOTS Jewellery Stand set 41905 which were going cheap. This gave me four of the distinctive 9×9 white heart-shaped plates (part 65486) which I decided to use as the floor plan of a new office block for Micropolis.

I also had lots of transpareent 1×1 light blue bricks, so these were the immediate window choice. I then found some bright light yellow bricks to complement the windows and used a staggered pattern across each floor to build up the height.

It is called Hartshaped House and is the Headquarters for a clothing company, Hartshaped Fashion.

The Empty Bottle – Micropolis #208

Monday, 12th April 2021 By Caz

The Micropolis Planning Department appear to have been receiving some more backhanders to approve the construction of yet another ridiculous structure. This time it’s the headquarters of one of the biggest wine importers in Micropolis.

Intevitably, the building has been given the nickname of The Empty Bottle by the residents of Micropolis, who love to take the mickey out of the weirder shaped structures in the city.

Argyle Heights – Micropolis Block #201

Friday, 20th November 2020 By Caz

Having recently shown you my big Micropolis layout, we are now back to highlighting individual models.

This one is called Argyle Heights, thanks to the diagnoal pattern which is reminiscent of Argyle jumpers and socks! It houses some prime office real estate in the heart of Downtown.

Sky Blue Place – Micropolis Block #194

Friday, 14th August 2020 By Caz

My latest Micropolis model is called Sky Blue Place, and is the office of a firm of consultants who have a reputation for blue sky thinking. They are obviously doing well as this five storey block is located downtown among some prime real estate.
