Monofigure Habitats #7

Wednesday, 5th May 2021 By Caz

Today’s Monofigure Habitats showcase the Brick Botanist, The Waitress and The Gardener.

The Brick Botanist is respresenting Bright Green in the collection, and is very appropriate for all sorts of foliage and plants. It looks like they have their shovel and staff at the ready to take some samples from the nearby pond. This habitat was only completed thanks to an order for 1×1 SNOT bricks which had to come from Denmark.

Moaning Myrtle’s hairpiece with bunches and the rectangular tray were the inspiration for this Dark Blue Habitat. I then found that I could source doors and windows, and a decorative piece which looked like a tablecloth. The waitress is clearing the table for the next al fresco diner. She seems remarkably unworried by the snake and scorpion who are hanging around!

The Gardener is picking some flowers for a vase in her conservatory. The Dark Pink hues work well for this Habitat, and she also has a patio umbrella and chair in the garden ready to relax.

Brickheadz: Bunny & Bee

Friday, 9th March 2018 By Caz

Until now, the whole Brickheadz theme had largely passed me by, as they depicted superheroes or Star Wars characters that I wasn’t very interested in. But when I saw the Valentine’s Bee and Easter Bunny, I decided they would be great to have in my collection.

On my visit to Newcastle this week, I popped into the Gateshead LEGO store and found them both in stock, so I bought one of each. Bunny was the first out of the box and it was an enjoyable little build.

I love those big ears, buck teeth and carrot in hand – not to mention a basket for two huge Easter eggs.

Next it was on to the Bee…

It is quite similar in construction, apart from having a couple of antennae instead of huge ears. Still very cute though. The bee comes with two variations of flowers to go with the heart and honeypot.

I’m not sure if I prefer the sunflowers or red roses…

They make cute additions to my collection and I suspect I might be investing in a few more different Brickheadz over the coming months – particularly some of the new ones which are due out this year.

Seasonal: Flower Display (40187)

Wednesday, 7th February 2018 By Caz

I got this little Flower Display (40187) from Bluewater on Saturday and thought it would make a nice set to display for a while. I’m not sure if it will remain built in the longer term, but it gives the LEGO shelves a bit of colour. It was a nice quick build. I particularly like the shape the tulip has ended up. Given enough slopes of the right colour, you could make a whole bunch!
