Minifig Themed Habitats #19

Wednesday, 19th May 2021 By Caz

Recently I’ve been showing you my Monochrome Habitats project and neglecting the others I have built, so today I am presenting The Space Fan, The Spartan Warrior and The Beekeper.

The Space Fan is from CMF Series 20 and she immediately caught my eye – her cool top, spacey baseball cap and actual NASA rocket meant I had to build her a rocket scientit’s lab! I’m not sure how safe it is indoors, but you can even fire the engines!

Next up is a much older minifigure, the Spartan Warrior from Series 2. I felt he needed a big fort to guard, so here you can see him patrolling the battlements on the lookout for invaders. Or is he just wondering when the next shift are due?

The Series 21 Beekeper is another great minifigure who needed a habitat – he’s in his garden with a big hive, surrounded by plants and butterflies. His smoke can at the ready, he’s harvesting some tasty honey by the looks of it.

Monofigure Habitats #10

Saturday, 8th May 2021 By Caz

My next three Monofigure Habitats are quite diverse. They are the Bike Mechanic, The Lady of Leisure and The Urban Soldier.

The Dark Azure scene was inspired by the large staircase piece which I really wanted to incorporate somehow. I decided it could depict the basement workshop of keen cyclist who is busy changing some tyres on her Mountain Bike. The matching tools under the stairs were a great addition when I realised they were available.

On the other hand, the Lavender Lady of Leisure doesn’t like to get her hands dirty at all! Here she is seen strolling in her courtyard garden about to comb her long, flowing locks in the shade of a creeping vine.

The Urban Soldier came about because there aren’t many hat or hair option for Olive Green, and this seemed the best compromise, even though it is dual moulded with a trans yellow visor. He’s busy collecting material to build a defensive barrier so that he can take a pot shot at the insurgents he is fighting.

Monofigure Habitats #7

Today’s Monofigure Habitats showcase the Brick Botanist, The Waitress and The Gardener.

The Brick Botanist is respresenting Bright Green in the collection, and is very appropriate for all sorts of foliage and plants. It looks like they have their shovel and staff at the ready to take some samples from the nearby pond. This habitat was only completed thanks to an order for 1×1 SNOT bricks which had to come from Denmark.

Moaning Myrtle’s hairpiece with bunches and the rectangular tray were the inspiration for this Dark Blue Habitat. I then found that I could source doors and windows, and a decorative piece which looked like a tablecloth. The waitress is clearing the table for the next al fresco diner. She seems remarkably unworried by the snake and scorpion who are hanging around!

The Gardener is picking some flowers for a vase in her conservatory. The Dark Pink hues work well for this Habitat, and she also has a patio umbrella and chair in the garden ready to relax.

Bricktober: Hotel (40141)

Tuesday, 28th November 2017 By Caz

Another bargain was had on eBay recently, and the Bricktober Hotel (40141) was mine! It arrived today and the box was a bit squashed but I wasn’t too bothered about that.

I found it a much easier build than the Bakery, maybe because I wasn’t trying to do it on a tray on my knee. It turned out well, with some nice little details and landscaping around the side.

The hotel and bakery are going on a couple of Micropolis bases with some other Bricktober sets when I get them, and possibly made into a complete block eventually. I think they sit quite nicely together – although I’ve left them one plate higher than the pavement on their own 8×8 bases, in case I ever want to take them off again.
