Widget Factory – Micropolis #216

Friday, 28th May 2021 By Caz

I have another piece of the Micropolis Industrial Zone to show you today – this is a factory which makes widgets, so I thought it best to just call it the Widget Factory!

I have wanted to use the rollercoaster track as Microscale girders for some time, and I had a few pieces spare from a recent project. So I put them to good use on the outside of the factory here.

The roof started out as a blank flat structure with loads of studs, but a few radar dishes, grille tiles and some pipe-like greebling later, it looked far more interesting.

The building didn’t occupy all of the half-block baseplate, so I was able to make a little park with a few trees and flowers to fill in one end and bring a little bit of nature into the industrial zone.

Wine Warehouse – Micropolis #215

Monday, 24th May 2021 By Caz

This is the Wine Warehouse which sits close to Micropolis City Airport in the Industrial district of town.

It is the main import/export warehouse for Green & Blacks Wine Merchants who have their flagship store in the Downtown Mall. Being close to the airport is a major advantage for their logistics, of course.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the details.

Looking at this again I realise I should really have put a brick-built wine bottle sign – or just a regular minifig Wine Bottle outside, perhaps I should add one from my collection.

Big Orange Storage – Micropolis Block #187

Friday, 19th June 2020 By Caz

A few months ago I saw an image on Google of a large, blocky building with a letterbox-style inset around two sides on the first floor. I thought about it for a while and eventually this design formed the seed of the idea for this building, Big Orange Storage.

Boot Factory – Micropolis Block #185

Monday, 1st June 2020 By Caz

I’ve been wanting to make some more industrial structures for my microscale city for some time, and decided that a small factory would be my next project. The Boot Factory will form a quarter block plot somewhere on the outskirts of the airport, along with some other industrial units.

Blue Distribution – Micropolis Block #159

Wednesday, 23rd October 2019 By Caz

While I was at the Pick A Brick wall buying parts for my last model, Six Bricks, I also noticed that they had thousands of these blue 1×2 grille slopes. So I picked up a couple of generous handfuls and threw them into my pot. When I got home, I put together this block, Blue Distribution, which is a firm which specialises in Logistics and moving goods around Micropolis. The warehouse sits in the Industrial zone close to the airport, for quick transport links out of town as well.

Wind Farm – Micropolis Block #146

Monday, 26th August 2019 By Caz

As well as the recently-opened Solar Farm, the Green Energy Corporation in Micropolis has also heavily invested in wind turbine technology. This wind farm has just been constructed on the edge of town and can now generate enough power to supply at least a dozen residential blocks on a good day.
