My latest Micropolis model is called Sky Blue Place, and is the office of a firm of consultants who have a reputation for blue sky thinking. They are obviously doing well as this five storey block is located downtown among some prime real estate.
This is a new office building for downtown Micropolis, called Juno Court.
The building was inspired by the arrival of a large number of 1×2 trans black bricks from a Bricklink order, along with plenty of 1×1 bricks with a stud on the side in sand green and some large tan plates from my own collection.
Draco House is another office for the Downtown area of Micropolis. It has a simple construction with SNOT bricks inside, holding two 4×6 black plates vertically on each side. The corner gaps are filled in with 1×1 round bricks to give the impression of impressive pillars which hold up the roof.
The structural shape of this model was heavily influenced by a Micropolis block called Sunrise Tower by well known builder Little Brick Root, although I have built it on a smaller scale and with more colours. It makes a bright and airy landmark for the workers of the Downtown zone, which they have nicknamed the Rainbow Twist.
In the past I have used some unusual LEGO parts to represent girders in Microscale. Most recently it was the Belville lattice pieces, but I’ve also used Znap to convey the idea of structural elements in front of a glass wall. In this build I was fiddling about with the basic design and decided the large glass panels needed something else in front of them – and I hit upon the idea of using two different shapes of Glasses used for BrickHeadz – mostly from the Go Brick Me set, 41597. This is the office building of the largest firm of Opticians in Micropolis. Their HQ is called the Maison des Lunettes.
My channel reached an amazing milestone last Friday – 1000 Subscribers! That’s more than my wildest dreams when I first started uploading videos in July 2018. And I would like to thank each and every one of my viewers for their loyalty and great feedback! I was inspired to build this new Micropolis block called Millennium Place, which has a footprint in the shape of 1000 when seen from above. Let’s have a closer look from all sides.
